Study in Australia

Each year around 900 Poles and 1,500 Czechs travel to Australia to study there. This number is increasing strongly each year.

Why study in Australia?

There are several reasons:

High quality of education.

This is shown by the large number of foreigners who study in Australia - for example, last year 9,000 Americans and 6,000 Japanese studied in Australia.

The cost of living is lower.

A Big Mac costs 13 zloty or 90 Kc in London, 11 zloty or 77 Kc in New York and 7 zloty or 50 Kc in Sydney.

Polish and Czech students are usually allowed to work.

They have to apply for the right to work once they arrive in Australia. Assuming this work permit is granted:

They are allowed to work in whatever job they like. In certain other western countries there are restrictions - for example they can only work at the college where they are studying.

By studying in Australia, Polish students gain a better understanding of the whole Asia-Pacific area. They can travel easily to other Asian capitals and they also get to know Asian students studying in Australia.

For example 14,000 Chinese students study in Australia each year.

Polish and Czech students who study in Australia have improved job prospects when they return to Poland and the Czech Republic.

Australia is safer than most industrialised countries.
